Debutant Sarfaraz Khan scored a quickfire 50 and strengthened India’s grip on the 1st Day of the 3rd Test match against England at Rajkot on Thursday.
The batter, who replaced skipper Rohit Sharma in the middle, completed his half century in 48 balls peppered with 7 boundaries and 1 six.
Sarfaraz was ultimately dismissed for 62 as a confusion in the middle with Ravindra Jadeja leading to him being run out.
Earlier in the day, Sarfaraz and his father Naushad Khan’s dream became a reality ahead of the third Test between India vs England as the 26-year-old was presented with his debut cap former leg-spinner Anil Kumble.

Naushad was seen in tears as his son was presented with the cap and he hugged him with joy and kissed the Indian badge on his cap.
Meanwhile, in the match, skipper Rohit and Ravindra Jadeja had continued to build on their partnership as India reached 185 for three at tea.
It was a fruitful session for the hosts who added 93 runs without losing any wickets in the middle session with Jadeja reaching his fifty at his home ground and Rohit closing in on his first century in 11 innings.

The 152-run stand between the two is India’s first 100-run partnership in the series.
The Indian skipper would ultimately get to his 11th Test hundred which took him 157 deliveries on the back of 11 fours and two sixes, in the third session.
Rohit also completed 1000 Test runs against England during the knock, reaching the mark in 23 innings with three hundreds and four fifties.
He was dismissed Mark Wood on 131 as his counterpart Ben Stokes took the catch which led to Khan coming in the middle.
Opting to bat after winning the toss, India suffered three early jolts with Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and Rajat Patidar departing in quick time. Rohit joined Ravindra Jadeja at 33 for three and steered the team to Lunch at 93 for three with his first half-century of the series.
