WATCH: How did Rohit Sharma react after ‘misunderstanding’ with Ravindra Jadeja led to Sarfaraz Khan’s run out | Cricket News

Sarfaraz Khan went all guns blazing in his first Test innings. The 26-year-old, who received his maiden cap for India ahead of the third Test against England, went on to score 62 off just 66 deliveries in the first innings.
In his maiden innings in India’s whites, the Mumbai batter pickpocketed nine fours and one maximum in a display of counter attack after India lost four wickets, and went on to add an 87-run stand with Ravindra Jadeja.
However, the debutant’s innings would come to an abrupt end after he was run out at the non-striker’s end after a mix up with Jadeja in between the 22-yards. One run away from his hundred, Jadeja would steer a Mark Wood delivery towards mid on and step out in search of a single but backed away from the same midway through the wicket, leading to Sarfaraz falling short of his crease as England skipper Ben Stokes found the target with a direct hit.
The incident led to Indian skipper Rohit Sharma’s fuming reaction in the dressing room, as the 36-year-old was caught the broadcast cameras, throwing away his cap in the aftermath of the run out. Here’s a video of the same:

“He came to dressing room and said, ‘Thoda sa miscommunication ho gaya tha… (there was a bit of a misunderstanding).’ I said to him, ‘Ye hota rehta hai’. It’s part of the game,” Sarfaraz would tell in the post-day press conference.
Earlier, India won the toss and opted to bat first in Rajkot. The hosts, however, lost three wickets in the first session and were 33/3 when skipper Rohit Sharma was joined in Jadeja and the two centurions of the day went on to stitch a 204 run partnership for the fourth wicket.
Despite the loss of five wickets, India closed the day with 326 runs on the board and Jadeja unbeaten at 110 with Kuldeep Yadav having just opened his account and Dhruv Jurel, Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel yet to follow.
