IPL 2024 Orange Cap Holder: Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad overtook Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s Virat Kohli as the leading run scorer of the 2024 Indian Premier League after his fourth fifty of the season against Punjab Kings on Wednesday.
Gaikwad is now only the second batter to score in excess of 500 runs this season after Kohli crossed the milestone against Gujarat Titans on Sunday. The CSK captain, who now has 509 runs to his name off 10 innings, had been overlooked for India’s T20 World Cup squad. As was KL Rahul, who also made way back among the top five on Tuesday.
Following his 28-run outing, Rahul is now back among the top-five run scorers of the season, having pipped Rishabh Pant for the fourth spot. From 10 innings, Rahul has 406 runs to his name.
Also among the top five run scorers are Pant and Sai Sudharsan.

Every year when the Indian Premier League (IPL) season comes around, a lot of eyes are on the players who score the most number of runs in the season, there getting the Orange Cap.
Last season, current Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill won the Orange Cap with 890 runs. He was followed Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Faf du Plessis who scored 730 and Chennai Super Kings Devon Conway with 672. RCB’s Virat Kohli was at number 4 with 639 while Yashasvi Jaiswal came in at 5 with 625.
