IND vs BAN T20 World Cup 2024 tip-off XI: Samson likely to replace Dube, Virat continues to open, Axar may bat ahead of Jadeja | Cricket News

India vs Bangladesh T20 World Cup 2024 Playing 11: After playing in the tough New York conditions in their group match, the Rohit Sharma-led team looked at home in their first outing in the Caribbean in the ongoing Super Eight match against Afghanan. On Saturday, India will take on Bangladesh at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua.
The overall head-to-head record is overwhelmingly in India’s favour but Bangladesh have been known to be plucky and Rohit Sharma and his men would be wary of that. The Men in Blue produced a professional performance against Afghanan in their opening Super Eights match. Bangladesh produced their best-ever showing at the T20 World Cup as they won three matches in the group stage to qualify for the Super Eights. But the Tigers were handed a 28-run DLS defeat Australia in their opening Super Eight fixture. They take on India next.
Here are a few tip-offs ahead IND vs BAN match
Sanju Samson for Shivam Dube
Shivam Dube, who has been included in India’s World Cup squad ahead of Rinku Singh to take on spinners in the middle overs. However, Dube’s scores at the T20 World Cup so far might have forced the team management to make a change in their playing XI against Bangladesh. Dube has managed only 44 runs in four innings. His game depends so much on that free swing of the bat but on these pitches where the ball stops a touch, he hasn’t been able to adjust. With Rishabh Pant at 3, followed Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya, who can take on the spinners at will, India would be tempted to replace Shivam Dube with Sanju Samson. Unlike Dube, Samson is equally good against spinners and pacers and can use his muscles to clear the ropes even if fours are hard to score on these heavy outfields.
Virat to open with Rohit
Virat Kohli has been “challenged” in the ongoing T20 World Cup but his lean run is allowing the less experienced players to step up and contribute to the team’s cause. Against Afghanan, Kohli was tested once again in the powerplay and ended up with a run-a-ball 24, his first double-digit score in the tournament. Both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have got starts but have not been able to turn them into defining knocks. They would love to click as an opening pair ahead of the crucial games.
Axar to bat ahead of Jadeja
Axar Patel, who has always been an understudy for Ravindra Jadeja has finally started to show his potential. Axar has bowled beautifully in the tournament but it is batting, which has been excellent. Axar as a batter is looking more at home than the veteran Jadeja. India’s think tank might promote Axar ahead of Jadeja in the batting order.
