Gautam Gambhir says bowling is like ‘meditation’ and ‘peace’ for Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj | Cricket News
Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj are the key members around which India has built their pace attack in red-ball cricket. While each has their own strengths and brings a different skill set to the table one thing that is common among them according to Indian Head Coach Gautam Gambhir is for all of them is bowling is like “meditation” and “peace”
Speaking on the BCCI TV in a chat with Kohli, Gambhir lauded the trio and also emphasized on need to have a similar attitude towards bowling for the upcoming crop of bowlers. “We will keep getting quality batters that is how structure in Indian cricket has been formed. Does the younger generation have the motivation to go out and do and bowl 20 overs?” Gambhir said.
“I spoke to Jasprit yesterday he just loves bowling he just wants to bowl do the next generation of fast bowlers have that enjoyment to bowl 20 overs in a day in Chennai’s heat weather,” Gambhir added. “Hopefully in future, we can identify those kinds of guys who love bowling and want to do just day in day out,” Gambhir added.
Renowned for Tests, not T20Is
“Mohammed Shami is not a world-renowned bowler because he is a good T20 bowler, he is one of the best Test bowlers what he did in the 50-over World Cup adds value,” said Virat Kohli. However, unlike Shami, Bumrah has a majestic T20 record. However, similar to Shami, Kohli believes that Bumrah is among the best is because of his ability to bowl in all formats and not just yorkers in T20s. Speaking of Siraj Kohli would say, “Siraj is to play Test cricket and he is hungry to do well in Test cricket and he wants to win away from home.” H
“These are the values other cricketers can lot up to and even though the current lot of Bumrah is not the generation when we started playing he still has that drive,” Kohli added.
