R Ashwin-Ravindra Jadeja: Check out records duo created with 195-run stand against Bangladesh on Day 1 | Cricket News

Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, IND vs BAN: Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja brought India back from the ass with a gritty 195-run partnership on the opening day of the 1st Test against Bangladesh in Chennai.
India was in a vulnerable state when the duo came into the middle having lost 6 wickets for 144 runs with all of he recognized batters back into the hut including Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul.
From there, Ashwin and Jadeja dragged their team to 339/6 at the end of day’s play with a 7th wicket partnership which helped them break a couple of records.
Firstly, they became the duo with the second-most runs at home in a partnership of 7th wicket or below with Ashwin and Jadeja’s 500+ runs in 14 matches just below Kapil Dev and Syed Kirmani’s 617 runs in 14 matches.
They are ahead of MS Dhoni and VVS Laxman who scored 486 runs in 3 matches, Syed Kirmani and Ravi Shastri who scored 462 runs in 8 matches and Jadeja and Wriddhiman Saha who scored 421 runs in 9 matches.
Ashwin and Jadeja’s partnership on Thursday is also the most India against Bangladesh for any wicket below the 7th and also India’s 8th highest 7th wicket partnership in Test cricket.
Meanwhile, India recovered well from early hiccups to end day one at 339 for six against Bangladesh in the opening Test of the two-match series.
India lost three wickets each in the morning and post-lunch session to reach 176 for six at tea with opener Yashasvi Jaiswal hitting a patient 56.
But it was counter-attacking seventh-wicket unconquered partnership of 195 runs off 227 balls between centurion Ravichandran Ashwin (102 not out) and Ravindra Jadeja (86 not out) that took Bangladesh surprise.
Pacer Hasan Mahmud (4/58), who claimed the wickets of India skipper Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and Virat Kolhi in the opening session, added one more to his tally in the form of Rishabh Pant.

Nahid Rana (1/80) and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (1/77) picked up a wicket each.
But the Bangladeshi bowlers fell flat in front of Ashwin and Jadeja as they failed to pick up a single wicket in the final session of the day.
