Brian Lara expects Yashasvi Jaiswal to ‘do well’ in Australia: ‘Nothing technical, it’s all about mental thing’ | Cricket News

Former West Indian great Brian Lara has backed Yashasvi Jaiswal to come good on India’s tour of Australia while former allrounder Shane Watson reckons Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah will make Australia “wary”.
“I think he’s [Jaiswal] got the ability to play in any condition,” said Lara. “I saw him in the Caribbean. Obviously the pitches in Australia are slightly different, but if you take that sort of strength that you have, you’re going to play good cricket in any conditions. So, I expect to see him do well,” Lara said on the sidelines of the International Masters League.
“I don’t think there’s much that he has to do technically. I just think it’s all about the mental thing. Travelling away from home. Playing against Australia on their shores is a different beast. But I believe that the Indian team that I’ve seen going to Australia over the last couple of occasions are very capable of winning,” he explained.
Watson felt Australians should be wary of Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah. “One is Rishabh Pant. He’s obviously got great memories for his last tour that he had from a batting perspective in Australia. That innings that he played at the Gabba was something very special. Knowing that he’s come through his challenges in the last couple of years to be able to come back as an even better player than what he left off, I think he’s going to have a big series.
“Also, Bumrah is someone who in Australian conditions, in all conditions he’s so good. His ability to be able to just take wickets and get batters out, he’s going to be very effective in Australia as well. So those two guys, if they have big series, they can really provide Australia with some big challenges,” Watson said.
