Suryakumar Yadav available to play in Mumbai’s Ranji game against Maharashtra from October 18 | Cricket News
India’s T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav has informed the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) that he will be available for selection for the next round of Ranji Trophy to play Mumbai’s second match of the season.
Defending champions Mumbai are scheduled to play their second round league game against Maharashtra in Mumbai from October 18 to 21.
Yadav is currently leading the Indian team in the three match T20I series against Bangladesh which the hosts lead 2-0. The Indian team will play its last game against Bangladesh in Hyderabad on October 12.
“He has informed the MCA that he will be part of the Ranji Trophy team which will play against Maharashtra,” a source in the MCA confirmed.
The Indian team will be playing a three match Test series against New Zealand at home post the Bangladesh series. Yadav is currently considered to be a special for T20Is and is tipped to lead India at the next World Cup at home. Chances of Yadav finding a place in the Test side are remote asIndian selectors are expected to retain the same squad which played two Tests against Bangladesh at home.
Yadav has always ensured he plays domestic or club cricket in his free-time. Mumbai, who won the Irani Trophy recently, will play its first Ranji Trophy game against Baroda back in their yard from October 11.
