IND vs BAN, 3rd T20I: Sanju Samson blasts five sixes in one over off Rishad Hossain, scores maiden T20I hundred | Cricket News
Sanju Samson flexed his big batting muscles against Bangladesh in the third T20I, dispatching five consecutive sixes in Rishad Hossain’s 10th over in Hyderabad as he went on to score his maiden T20I hundred. Opening the batting for India, Samson went on to score 111 runs of 47 deliveries.
The highlight of his cracking knock came in the 10th over of the match when he moved from 62 off 29into his 90s in the space of six balls. After a dot ball, Samson took the attack to the 22-year-old spinner with a stand-still six hitting the sightscreen.
He’d subsequently target the same region, long-off, long-on, and the deep mid-wicket region to close the over with 30 runs – second-highest runs scored an Indian batter in a single over in a T20I. The highest haul, of course, belongs to Yuvraj Singh for his six sixes against England during the 2007 T20 World Cup game.
Most runs in an over for India (T20Is)
However, in terms of a combined effort, back in January, Rohit Sharma and Rinku Singh had combined to accumulate 36 runs in an over against Afghanan. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Tilak Varma on the other hand, had amassed as many as 30 runs in a T20I against Australia last year.
Having won the toss, and opting to bat first, India took little time to get going. Despite Abhishek Sharma falling in the third over, Samson combined alongside Suryakumar Yadav to take the score past the 150-run inside just 10 overs.
Fastest T20I hundred a batter (full-member nation)
His century, completed off just 40 deliveries, is the fourth fastest T20I hundred scored a batter from a full-member nation. Leading the tally is South Africa’s David Miller, who scored a 35-ball century back in 2017, against Bangladesh.
