India vs New Zealand: Food from personal chefs, hairdryers for Mumbai climate dominate player requirements | Cricket News

Hair dryer please!
The Indian team had to make an SoS to Mumbai Cricket Association asking them to provide two hair dryers for the team as the clothes of players kept getting wet. The Mumbai weather has thrown different challenges for the India and New Zealand team at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday. With 33 degree temperature and 52 % percent humidity, the players had to use a dryer to get their clothes dry and wear it again. Few players are superstitious and prefer not to change their clothes while playing the entire day. As a result the players asked the Indian team support staff to provide a dryer so that they can wear dry clothes. Some players took help from players who are benched. Washington Sundar wore Axar Patel’s jersey while bowling. The Indian board provides four pairs of playing jerseys to each player but such has been the weather that it is taking no time for players to get drained.
Special chef food
We all know how Indian players have begun to be diet cautiously and many have hired dieticians and cooks to travel with them. Hardik Pandya in the past decided to travel with his cook abroad too, which has been followed many Indian cricketers. The current Indian team has a few top players preferring to eat their personal chef’s food instead of the one provided at the stadium the Indian board. The security at the Wankhede these days are informed about the car which will bring the food of each player. Indian captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, Sarfaraz Khan and KL Rahul all eat food made their cook. All these players too have consulted dieticians who prepare their food chart for the week. And yes, all the food was vegetarian today.

Gill’s lucky bat
Indian opener Shubman Gill scored 90 on a turning track and he later revealed how he is using the same bat which he had used during England’s tour of India earlier this year. Gill had a superb series at home in February-March when England had traveled home. He had scores like 104, 91, 52 not out and 110. When asked is it same bat which he is using, he replied, “Yeah, it is the same bat.”
