Delhi Capitals announce Munaf Patel as bowling coach ahead of IPL 2025 auction | Cricket News
Delhi Capitals on Monday announced former India international Munaf Patel as their bowling coach for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
“Old-school grit 🤝 Winning mindset. Welcome to DC, legend,” the franchise announced on X.
The 41-year-old Munaf played for India in all three formats and was a part of the 2011 ODI World Cup winning squad where he was the third highest wicket-taker for the Men in Blue. In the IPL, he has represented the likes of Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Lions, picking 74 wickets in 63 matches. He has won the whole thing with Mumbai back in 2013.

With Munaf’s appointment, DC’s overhaul continues after they brought in Hemang Badani as the head coach, replacing Ricky Ponting and Venugopal Rao as the new Director of Cricket for the IPL.
The Capitals has also released their marquee player Rishabh Pant last month, ahead of the mega auction for Indian Premier League 2025.
Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Tran Stubbs and Abishek Porel were the four confirmed retentions for FC.
DC co-owner Parth Jindal said, “In Axar, Kuldeep, Tran and Abishek we have the ideal blend of experience and youth, and I am very pleased with our retentions. I would have liked to retain more players who have turned out for DC, but the rules mean we have to pick strategically. Going into the auction we will have two RTM cards and that leaves the door open for players who have worn the DC shirt in the past, to carry on with us.”
Having reached the final in 2020, and finished among the top two the following year, Delhi finished fifth, ninth and sixth in the last three seasons.
