PCB ‘strongly refutes’ reports that Jason Gillespie will be replaced Aaqib Javed | Cricket News

The Pakan Cricket Board has issued a strong denial to media reports that former Pakan fast bowler Aaqib Javed is likely to replace current Pakan cricket team coach Jason Gillespie in all formats after the ongoing T20I series in Australia, which the Pakan cricket team has already lost 0-2.
Pakan will play the third T20I on Monday against Australia. Media reports had suggested that Gillespie’s reign was to end after that.
“PCB strongly refutes the story. As announced previously, Jason Gillespie will continue to coach the Pakan side for the two red-ball matches against South Africa,” the Pakan Cricket Board tweeted late on Sunday.
The two-match Test series against South Africa is set to be played in December.
It is notable that that PCB has left out the three T20Is that the Pakan cricket team will play against the South African cricket team on the same tour.
According to a report in ESPNCricinfo, the move to replace Gillespie with Aaqib Javed came after the Australian had reportedly refused to fully take over the responsibility of white-ball teams without a pay rise. When he conveyed the message, the PCB decided to strip him off red ball duties too.
Pakan team has been in a state of turmoil recently. Right before the series against Australia, coach Gary Kirsten parted ways with the team. This had led the PCB to enl the services of Gillespie as an interim white-ball coach for the three ODIs and three T20Is.
Under Gillespie, the Pakan cricket team had lost a series at home to Bangladesh, which is the first time this has happened in hory. Pakan did bounce back from that beating England in their first Test series at home in three-and-a-half years. They then won their first ODI series in Australia in 22 years, but lost the T20I series.
