Nick Kyrgios says the game of tennis is bland in the post Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal era | Tennis News

Nick Kyrgios, the maverick and outspoken tennis star, is making a comeback at the Brisbane Open next month. However, he has already fired a salvo at the current generation of players.
The 29-year-old, who has been off the circuit because of injury-related issues, said that in the post Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal era, tennis was getting a bit boring. He also said he hated that most of the current players are great buddies with each other.
In a chat with Nova 100’s Jase and Lauren radio show, Kyrgios said that the world of tennis was ‘bland’ even as Novak Djokovic, the last of the Big 3, is in the twilight zone.
“I think it’s a very interesting time at the moment in the tennis world,” he said. Obviously, we see, you know, Djokovic, I think we could all say he’s at the tail end of his career. He’s still a phenomenal player. But Nadal, literally, today, officially, his last ever time we’re going to see him on the court. Federer is gone. So look, there’s some amazing players still out there, but I think the game’s a bit bland at the moment,” Kyrgios said in the chat.
Kyrgios, known to call a spade a spade, also said he was irritated with the ‘friendship’ among tennis players.

“And, you know, everyone’s liking each other, and everyone’s friends with each other. And I just, I hate that s**t, to be honest. Everyone’s everyone’s best mate,” the Australian tennis star added in the radio show chat.
