IPL Auction 2025: KL Rahul was bought the Delhi Capitals for Rs 14 crore at the IPL Mega Auction on Sunday. Four teams seemed to be all in for the former captain of Lucknow Super Giants but DC had the last laugh.
Kolkata Knight Riders opened the bidding for Rahul at his base price of Rs 2 crore before RCB jumped in. The Bengaluru franchise dropped out at the Rs 10.75 crore mark. Chennai Super Kings was the other team in contention before Capitals zeroed in on the 32-year-old.
Although last season there seemed to have seen a dip in Rahul’s performance, his records in the tournament are not to be ignored. The classy yet explosive opener boasts a total of 4683 runs in the tournament, playing with a strike rate of 134.61. He has four centuries to his name and a high score being 132* in 2020, the season in which he also won the Orange Cap.
Though out-of-favour from the Indian side in T20Is, Rahul has amassed 2265 runs in international colours, with a strike rate of 139.12 and two centuries to his name.
After being on the receiving end of criticism for a very long time, Rahul bounced back in the first Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy scoring a match-defining 77 in the second innings in Perth on Sunday. Rahul forged the first 200-plus opening stand for India in Australia.
