Ivory Coast reger lowest total in a men’s T20I after they got bowled out for 7 runs against Nigeria in the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub-Regional Africa Qualifier Group C match.
It was the first time, when a team was bowled out for a single-digit total. Previously the lowest total in the T20I format was 10 all out, which has been recorded twice: Mongolia vs Singapore in September this year and Isle of Man vs Spain last year.
Nigeria won the match a massive margin of 264 runs, which is the third biggest victory margins in men’s T20Is, following Zimbabwe’s 290-run win over Gambia last month, and Nepal’s 273-run win over Mongolia at the Asian Games in Hangzhou in September 2023.
Batting first, Nigeria posted 271 for 4. Opener Selim Salau (112) and Sulaimon Runsewe (50 off 19 balls) put on 128 runs in 10 overs. Salau’s 53-ball knock was studded with 13 boundaries and two sixes. Issac Okpe slammed 23-ball 65 not out with the help of three boundaries and six maximums.
For Ivory Coast, Pamba Dimitri (1/45) and Kouakou Wilfied (1/63) chipped in with a wicket apiece.
In reply, Ivory Coast was bundled out for seven runs in 7.3 overs. Left-arm spinner Isaac Danladi and left-arm quick Prosper Useni picked up three wickets each, right-arm quick Peter Aho got two, and Sylvester Okpe got one shared the wickets.
For Ivory Coast, opener Ouattara Mohamed was the top-scorer with 4 from six balls.
