ICC rankings: Jasprit Bumrah back to No. 1 after Perth Test show, records highest-ever rating points an Indian pacer | Cricket News
India pacer Jasprit Bumrah has regained the No. 1 spot in the ICC Test bowling rankings after spearheading his team to a record 295-run win over Australia in the first Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test in Perth last Sunday.
Bumrah’s spellbinding hauls of five for 30 and three for 42 helped him overtake Australia seamer Josh Hazlewood and South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada to reach a career-best 883 rating points, the highest rating points tally ever an India seam bowler. Only spinners Ravichandran Ashwin (904) and Ravindra Jadeja (899) have recorded higher point tallies among Indian bowlers.
This is the third time that Bumrah has been atop the rankings this year. He was top ranked for two one-month stretches each starting in February and October.
Jaiswal up to No. 2, Kohli back in top 15
After recording his maiden hundred in Australia in his second innings, Yashasvi Jaiswal continued his sizzling run of form to make a career-best second position on the Test batting rankings. Jaiswal surpassed Harry Brook and Kane Williamson after top-scoring in Perth with 161 in the second innings.
Meanqwhile, star India batter Virat Kohli also made a return to the top 15 after recently falling outside the top 20 for the first time in 10 years. Kohli’s unbeaten 100 off 143 balls helped him jump up to the 13th spot, advancing nine spots from 22.
