Australia cricketers vote for Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah as India players they would want in their team; Pat Cummins picks no one | Cricket News
Before the Border Gavaskar Series kicked off, the Australia players were asked in an interaction with abc_sport about which Indian players from the current team they would like on their teams and most of them either chose Virat Kohli or Jasprit Bumrah. Pat Cummins, meanwhile, went his usual cheeky way picking no one.
“Well, it’s probably hard to go past my RCB teammate. Virat, that’s going to be a popular answer. I don’t really care what he does against other nations, but it seems like every time he gets to Australia, he grows a couple of inches and just brings his best performances. He’ll be hard work this summer,” Glenn Maxwell said.
Nathan Lyon would have the same answer, saying, “Well if you had a batting order with Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, and Virat Kohli, it must be pretty handy.”
Mitchell Marsh also picked Kohli, saying “One Indian player, I think. I think it’d be cool to play with Virat,” while Alex Carey had the same answer, remarking “I’d love to play with Virat Kohli. Yeah, yeah, just a superstar. Person and player.”
Usman Khawaja also picked Kohli as well. “All time or just current? Just got current. Yeah, Virat,” he said.
Steve Smith and Travis Head, meanwhile, went with Jasprit Bumrah. “Jasprit Bumrah. Yeah, he’s pretty good. Good skill set,” Smith said while Head chipped in with, “Boomrah. Don’t have to face him.”
Cummins, however said, “I wouldn’t pick one.”
In the 1st Test of the ongoing series, Kohli, who had not scored a Test century in 18 months, roared back to form with an unbeaten 100 in the second innings as India secured a thumping 295-run victory over the hosts.
Stand-in captain Bumrah, meanwhile, snapped up up 5 wickets in the first innings and 3 in the second innings as India went 1-0 up in the series.
