Border Gavaskar Trophy: Gabba pitch to have good carry, pace and bounce, says curator ahead of India vs Australia 3rd Test | Cricket News

Border Gavaskar Trophy: The Gabba pitch curator on Wednesday said that the pitch for the 3rd Test between India vs Australia in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy will offer more pace and bounce.
“Different times of year definitely makes it different, it can be a slightly different pitch,” said curator David Sandurski as per cricket.com.au.
“Pitches later in the season might have a bit more wear and tear while ones early in the season usually are a bit fresher and might have a bit more in them. Generally speaking, we still prepare the pitch the exact same way every time to try and get the same good carry, pace and bounce that the Gabba is known for. We are just trying to make a traditional Gabba wicket like we do each year,” he added.
The last sentence will come as a relief to the Australians who hasn’t had the best of times in this stadium in recent times owing to the fact that around this time of the year, the pitch usually does no play into the hosts’ strength.
This has been one of the reasons, according to the Australia players that they have had difficulty winning at the venue in recent times, losing famously to India in 2021 which cost them the Border Gavaskar Trophy.
They had also suffered a shock loss to the West Indies at their once impenetrable fortress earlier this year.
The Chrmas time Tests held at Gabba has seen Australia lose three out of the five Tests played here compared to losing just 7 out of 61 played in the summer.

The Border Gavaskar Trophy is currently tied 1-1 with India winning the opening Test at Perth only for Australia to claw back the advantage at Adelaide.
