IND vs AUS, Sydney Test: Australia Playing 11 sees big change as Mitchell Marsh misses out | Cricket News
IND vs AUS: Australia captain Pat Cummins has confirmed that Beau Webster will be replacing all-rounder Mitchell Marsh for the fifth and final Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy in Sydney which is starting on Friday. This is the only change the team has seen after their commanding victory in Melbourne, as there were scares that Mitchell Starc could be nursing an injury. Pat Cummins mentioned that Mitchell Marsh clearly understood the change, since his performances were not up to the mark.
“Mitch totally understands it… his words were I know runs haven’t come.. that makes (my) position vulnerable…”
“Beau is really happy, he had been with this squad. Mitch (needs) time to freshen up and come back,”
All-rounder Cameron Green underwent a surgery in his lower back ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which caused him to miss out on the series, keeping him away from the game for at least six to seven months.
“Mitch was in the side this summer to be in the top six batters. When Cam (Cameron) Green comes back he will offer more with the ball,”
With the team set to take India on at the Sydney Cricket Ground, the players could potentially be greeted with rain out in the middle and the pitch seems to have a bit of moure on it.
“Pitch seems different from traditional SCG for the last few games at shield… good for batting and potentially breaks up for spin later. Weather also plays big part here,”
This match proves to be extremely important for both the sides, as a win for India would mean they would still have a chance to qualify for the World Test Championship final, while any other result would see them out of contention. For Australia, a win seals their spot in the final.
