14-year-old Ira Jadhav slams 346 in U-19 cricket breaks Smriti Mandhana’s record | Cricket News

14-year-old Mumbai opener Ira Jadhav on Sunday became the first Indian to slam a triple hundred in U19 cricket.
Opening the batting for Mumbai in the U19 Women’s One Day Trophy, Jadhav waltzed into the record books as she broke India batter Smriti Mandhana’s age-group record for the highest U19 score an Indian.
Jadhav sent the hapless Meghalaya attack at the Alur Cricket Ground on an unprecedented leather hunt, collecting 42 fours and 16 sixes in her marathon innings. The teenager finished unbeaten on 346 off 157 balls as Mumbai mounted a mammoth 563/3 in 50 overs – the highest score an Indian women’s domestic side across all tournaments and age groups.
Jadhav is the first Indian (man or woman) to record a triple century across any BCCI-organised limited-overs tournament.
Having picked the bat up for the first time when she was eight years old, Ira Jadhav had led herself in the WPL auction 2025 l in December. However, marked among the youngest players in the mini-auction pool, Jadhav found no bidders.
Alongside Anshu Nagar, Ira Jadhav was the youngest player in the WPL 2025 auction, aged 13 and 14 respectively
Jemimah Rodrigues is my idol
Speaking in an interview with Opening Door Jadhav revealed Jemimah Rodrigues is her role model. “There is one player who I think is my cricketing idol—Jemimah Rodrigues.”
“I love the way she handles her teammates, the energy she gets into the team, her game, and her energy on the field. I am aiming for the National team. I also want to represent India at the World Cup,” she said.
Speaking of her best moment in her short cricketing career Jadhav would say, “It was the time I scored my first century (163) in a mixed team. This was in Pune a few years ago and the teams had a mix of boys and girls. That gave me the confidence that I could do well.”
Brief scores: Mumbai 563/3 in 50 overs (Ira Jadhav 346 not out, Hurley Gala 116, Diksha Pawar 39)
