UAE COO offers ticket update for India vs Pakan clash at Champions Trophy 2025 | Cricket News
UAE is going to host the high-octane clash between India and Pakan in the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. With the fans of both countries there, Subhan Ahmed, COO of the Emirates Cricket Board and former COO of the PCB said he expects there would be a “record-breaking” crowd and said tickets will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
“With so many Indians and Pakanis living here, these games are more than just cricket; they’re a celebration,” he said. “Fans from both sides come together to support their teams and enjoy the sport, creating an electric atmosphere,” Ahmed said. “We expect these matches to be very entertaining and hope to see record-breaking support from fans.”
“Tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, ensuring fans from both India and Pakan, as well as others, can enjoy the action,” he added “We’re committed to ensuring cricket lovers can attend without unnecessary hurdles. The UAE offers unmatched facilities and government support, making it a prime location for events, even at short notice,” he concluded.
Neutral Venue
After much delay, the International Cricket Council (ICC) in December announced that India’s matches at next year’s Champions Trophy would be held at a neutral venue instead of Pakan, the designated host for the tournament. As part of the solution, Pakan will also not visit India for any ICC tournament until 2028, with its matches scheduled on neutral turf instead.
While the Champions Trophy is set to be held between February 19 and March 9, the schedule has not been announced due to the impasse over this issue. The PCB had categorically opposed the hybrid model but eventually agreed to it on reciprocal grounds.
This is the first major decision since former BCCI Secretary Jay Shah took over as ICC chair. This hybrid model, for all events until 2028, is expected to prevent any logjam ahead of major events over the next few years.
“This will apply to the upcoming ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 (hosted Pakan), set to be played in February and March 2025, as well as the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 (hosted India) and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 (hosted India and Sri Lanka),” the world body said in a release.
