ICC Women’s U19 T20 World Cup 2025: The second edition of the Women’s U19 World Cup will begin in Malaysia on January 18, Saturday, with 16 teams in contention.
The tournament will mark the second edition of the women’s age-group tournament, following the men’s Under 19 World Cup that was established in 1988. Unlike the men’s tournament, the women’s event is held in the T20 format. India, who recently lifted the inaugural U19 Women’s Asia Cup, are the defending champions of the World Cup held in 2023. Led senior team batter Shafali Verma, India trounced England to lifted the maiden title in South Africa. The team had also comprised current India stars Richa Ghosh and Titas Sadhu in the winning XI.
ICC U19 Women’s World Cup – Groups and Formats
16 teams are segregated into four groups for a round-robin first stage.
Hosts Malaysia, Nepal, Nigeria and Samoa are making their debuts in the tournament this edition.
Group A: India, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, West IndiesGroup B: England, Ireland, Pakan, USAGroup C: New Zealand, Nigeria, Samoa, South AfricaGroup D: Australia, Bangladesh, Nepal, Scotland
The top three teams from each group will qualify for the Super 6 stage where two pools of six teams each will be formed. Qualified teams will play every other team they had not faced in the first round in this stage. The top two teams from each pool will then qualify for the semi-finals, to be held on January 31.
The final will be played on February 2 at the Bayuemas Oval in Pandamaran
