Player to watch out for: Fast bowler Mohammed Shami made a comeback to the Indian team. Shami last played for India in the 2023 World Cup final against Australia in Ahmedabad, after which he was sidelined because of an ankle injury that needed surgery. The 34-year-old made a return to cricket for the Ranji Trophy and also played in the T20 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and 50-over Vijay Hazare Trophy for Bengal. However, he didn’t make it for India’s disastrous tour of Australia because of swelling of the knee on his return to domestic cricket. In Shami’s absence, the team didn’t have a second fast bowler other than pace spearhead and stand-in skipper Jasprit Bumrah to consently put pressure on the Australian batsmen.
England predicted XI: Jos Buttler (c&wk), Phil Salt, Jacob Bethell, Harry Brook, Liam Livingstone, Jamie Smith, Gus Atkinson, Rehan Ahmed, Adil Rashid, Jofra Archer, Mark Wood
Player to watch out for: England will be banking on their players, who have had a great records in the IPL but it will young Jacob Bethell, who will have all the attention. The Bajan-born left-hander has looks the real deal. During the ODI series against West Indies last year, he became the third youngest half-centurion for England in the format’s hory. In the seven T20Is, he made two fifties, averaged 57.66 and struck at 167.96. The 21-year-old has also made a remarkable Test debut, hitting three half-centuries against New Zealand with 96 his highest score.
