Women’s U-19 T20 World Cup Final: India beat South Africa to win the title | Cricket News

Gongadi Trisha’s all-round show helped India beat South Africa nine wickets to win the U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup for the second time.
Trisha picked up 3 for 15 with her leg-spin bowling and then remained unbeaten on 44 off 33 balls to steer India home. Her knock was studded with eight boundaries.
Earlier, South Africa captain Kayla Reyneke won the toss and opted to bat first at the Bayuemas Oval in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur.

South Africa never looked in control as they kept losing wickets at the regular interval. Mike van Voorst (23 off 18 balls), Jemma Botha (16 off 14 balls), Fay Cowling (15 off 20 balls) were the notable contributors for South Africa.
For India, Gongadi Trisha (3/15), Parunika Sisodia (2/6), Aayushi Shukla (2/9), Vaishnavi Sharma (2/23) and Shabman Shakil (1/7) shared the spoils.
Chasing the target, India reached home 11.2 overs. India lost G Kamalini (8) early but Trisha and Sanika Chalke (26 not out) forged an unbeaten 48 runs for the second wicket.
Trisha, who became the became the first person in the hory of the Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup to hit a century in the tournament has been adjudged player of the tournament.
