IND vs ENG | ‘Didn’t hit right lengths initially but got rewards once I corrected them’: Harshit Rana reacts on ODI debut | Cricket News
Harshit Rana had an impressive debut outing in the ODI format, taking 3 wickets for 53 runs against England in the 1st ODI in Nagpur on Thursday.
But it did not start as swimmingly for the 23-year-old with Phil Salt marauding 26 runs off the 6th over. The Kolkata Knight Riders bowler would bounce back in style, however, when he sent back Ben Duckett (32), Harry Brook (0) and Liam Livingstone (5).
“I didn’t hit the right lengths initially but got the rewards once I corrected them. They were looking to make some room (the batters), that’s the reason I kept bowling on the stumps,” Rana said about his change of strategy during the match.

“It’s a slightly two-paced pitch. Some of them are coming on nicely, some are stopping a bit. We bounced back in style. It’s a good total and we can chase this down,” he added.
In the match, England blazed out of the blocks with electrifying intent after opting to bat, but India’s disciplined bowling and razor-sharp fielding orchestrated a remarkable fightback as they bundled out the visitors for 248. Rana and the ever-reliable Ravindra Jadeja (3/26) shared six wickets between them in a clinical display of bowling.
Meanwhile, Buttler (52), Bethell (51) and Phil Salt (43) scored the major chunk of the runs for England.
Just when the visitors seemed poised for an onslaught, India struck back in sensational fashion. Shreyas Iyer produced a moment of brilliance in the field, running out the dangerous Salt with a bullet throw to KL Rahul following a mix-up between the two openers.

While Rana’s 26-run over gave England the momentum, his fourth over which yielded two wickets changed the complexion of the innings, putting India in control.
