India vs South Africa, 3rd Test: India take two wickets but Amla resists

NEW DELHI: Kagiso Rabada rode his luck until seven minutes before lunch on day two of the third Test in Johannesburg, helping South Africa move from an overnight 6/1 to 80/2 until an edge of his bat finally found a catcher. His wicket was just reward for Ishant Sharma, who along with every other Indian pace bow

Standing firm after battling through a testing period was Hashim Amla on 32, his second double-digit score of the series, with South Africa 81/3 and trailing India by 106 runs.
As with India on the first morning, South Africa endured a tough session as Ishant, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah located some lovely areas on a spicy Wanderers pitch to beat the ball on numerous occasions. Leading the way was Bhuvneshwar with a probing spell of 9-7-4-2 in which he found Dean Elgar’s edge with one that pitched on leg stump and moved across the left-hander to leave South Africa in trouble at 16/2.
With Rabada, he and his co-bowlers were not so successful. Edges evaded the slips and darted into the gaps, leaving India frustrated and Rabada with a cheeky grin on his face. The first 40 minutes of play was slow moving, before he and Amla found some boundaries through a series of mistimed and clean strokes. Ishant, the tallest of India’s fast men, also hit terrific lines to have Rabada feeling and Amla hopping, but the wicket eluded him until just before lunch.
