Expert explains the 852 Hz frequency and it’s role in helping one relax, sleep better | Health News

One such that caught our attention recently was the 852 Hz frequency, a musical sound that is claimed to be calming and help one sleep within minutes. Intrigued, we contacted experts to understand more about it.
Dr Deepti Sinha, lead consultant, Dept of ENT at the CK Birla Hospital, Delhi, said the 852 Hz frequency, part of the Solfeggio scale, is believed to offer benefits such as reducing anxiety, promoting relaxation, enhancing focus, and improving sleep quality.
“It is often associated with spiritual awakening and mental clarity, particularly through its connection to the third eye chakra, which symbolises intuition and awareness. Proponents suggest that this frequency helps calm the mind, reducing stress and intrusive thoughts aligning brainwaves to more peaceful states,” said Dr Sinha.

She added that lening to 852 Hz tones during meditation, yoga, or before bedtime facilitates relaxation and prepares the body for sleep in some. “Additionally, the frequency is used in sound healing therapy and binaural beats to foster a sense of balance and well-being,” Dr Sinha told .
However, it is important to note that the “perceived benefits of 852 Hz are largely anecdotal, with no robust scientific evidence supporting these claims”.
“While some individuals find it effective, the experiences remain subjective and vary from person to person. For a more holic approach to stress reduction and mental clarity, combining such practices with proven methods like regular exercise, meditation, a balanced diet, and healthy sleep routines is recommended,” suggested Dr Sinha.

These lifestyle habits, alongside practices like sound therapy, can provide a more effective and sustainable path to calmness and mental clarity in today’s busy and demanding world.
