Blackbuck poaching case: Here’s what happened after Salman Khan’s conviction
On Thursday, one of the biggest judiciary decisions was made against one of Bollywood’s biggest superstars, Salman Khan. He was convicted in the killing of two blackbucks in Jodhpur, back in 1998. The verdict was announced after a 20-year trial with the actor being sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment. Additionally, a penalty of Rs 10,000 was also imposed on Khan. However, the other co-accused actors Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Neelam and Sonali Bendre were acquitted.
Salman Khan’s lawyer is ready with a 51-page bail plea which was drafted as the actor spent his first night in jail. As per reports, the plea raises 54 grounds on which the superstar can be granted bail. Salman is currently in ward number 2 and has been assigned the cell number 106 in Jodhpur Central Jail. On his first night, as per a report on PTI, Salman Khan was served dal-roti for dinner, but he refused to eat and didn’t even call for food from outside.
In another development, it was cited that a crucial eyewitness somehow failed to identify Tabu and Sonali Bendre while he was being interrogated by the lawyer. The witness testified that Saif Ali Khan, on the other hand, was sitting in the front seat of the vehicle. However, who prompted Salman to take the shot still remains in question.
Another report stated that a Punjab-based gangster, Lawrence Bishnoi, has apparently threatened to kill the Bollywood actor. It was also reported by ANI that Mahesh Bora, Salman’s Counsel had also received death threats warning him against appealing for Salma’s bail. In a statement to ANI, Bora said, “Yesterday I got threatening SMSes and internet calls warning me not to appear for Salman Khan in bail hearing today.”
As per latest developments, Salman Khan’s bail plea has been put on hold for now which means that the actor will be spending another night in jail. The verdict will reportedly come at 10.30 am tomorrow.
