‘If I can do anything to help…’: Donald Trump wants India-Pakan clashes to ‘stop’ | World News

A day after India launched military strikes hitting nine terror sites inside Pakan and Pakan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) as its response to the Pahalgam attack on April 22, US President Donald Trump called for the clashes between New Delhi and Islamabad to stop.
When asked about his position on escalating tensions between the two countries, Trump said it was “terrible”.
“My position is, I get along with both, I know both very well, and I want to see them work it out, I want to see them stop. And hopefully they can stop now, they’ve gone tit-for-tat, so hopefully they can stop now,” Trump told reporters at the White House.

The US President also offered to help ‘stop’ the conflict. “But I know both, we get along with both countries very well, good relationships with both, and I want to see it stop. And if I can do anything to help, I will be there”.

A terror attack two weeks ago in the picturesque Baisaran valley in Pahalgam claimed 26 lives and durbed peace in Jammu and Kashmir and bringing the two countries on the brink of military conflict. After two weeks of diplomatic and non-military measures, including cancelling visas of Pakani citizens and putting the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance, India launched Operation Sindoor in early hours of Wednesday.
Trump was in a briefing with journals shortly after India announced the strikes. In his first remarks, Trump hoped “it ends very quickly”.
Calling it a “shame”, Trump said: “We just heard about it just as we were walking in the doors of the Oval… I guess people knew something was going to happen based on a little bit of the past — they’ve been fighting for a long time… You know they’ve been fighting for many, many decades and centuries, actually if you really think about it. Now, I just hope it ends very quickly.”
