Sensex hits all-time high, Nifty breaches 11,000-mark as markets soar
NEW DELHI: Sensex, which has been on the verge of hitting all-time high since the last few days, touched the landmark within minutes of the opening bell on Thursday.
Overtaking the previous peak of 36,443, the 30-share BSE index went past the 36,450 mark. At 10.16 am, the index was up 260.01 points at 36,525.94 The broader 50-share NSE Nifty too opened strong and breached the psychological mark of 11,000. The index was more than 0.60 per cent in early trade.
The Street has been upbeat since the turn of the week with June US jobs data coming at better than what was expected. Closer home, a favourable prediction for first quarter earnings of India Inc also gave a boost to the investors.
In the last three sessions, Sensex has gained to the tune of 700 points.
On Thursday, all sectoral sub-indices were in the green with Nifty PSU Bank rallying the most at more than 1 per cent.
