CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan arrives in Chambal today

BHOPAL: In view of the proposed alliance between Congress and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) ahead of assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh, all eyes are on chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra’ which will enter Gwalior-Chambal region on Saturday.
If a Congress-BSP alliance works out, it could have an impact on 41 seats in the Chambal region, but sources say BJP plans to stick to its old strategy.
Staunch Congress supporters like Bhagirath Prasad, Chaudhary Rakesh Singh Chaturvedi, Rao Uday Pratap Singh and Parasram Mudgal of BSP had joined BJP before the elections. The ruling party is now trying to make a dent in the proposed alliance.

“There are a few more leaders who are willing to join the saffron party but, we will open the cards a few days before the assembly elections,” disclosed a senior state BJP functionary.
The party has not disclosed its strategy on the proposed alliance. Chouhan will begin his two-day tour from Bhander, around 20km from the famous temple town Datia, which is known for Pitambara Peeth of Mahabharat era. The region is a BJP bastion now but has influence of BSP and Samajwadi Party for being close to Uttar Pradesh.
Bhander is closely located to Sevda, another BJP constituency having influence of state public relations minister Narottam Mishra.
In 2013 assembly polls, BJP leader Ghanshyam Pironiya was elected from Bhander while Pradip Agrawal had wrested the Sevda seat from BSP candidate Radhelal Baghel. Chouhan will tour 287 km during his campaign and cover 11 assembly constituencies dominated by Congress and BSP. Congress holds sway in Lahar and Ater assembly constituencies as senior leader Govind Singh and Hemant Katare, son of former Leader of Opposition Satyedev Katare, won from these two seats
