In a dig at US President, California Gov Newsom jokes about launching ‘Trump Corruption Coin’ | World News
California Gov Gavin Newsom, suggested this week that he may soon release a satirical cryptocurrency-themed product on his online merchandise store. “I think we’ll add a coin, maybe a Trump corruption coin or something,” Newsom said on Wednesday as per local time, reported Fox News.
Politico reported that the governor, speaking at at a local summit, added with a laugh that he was “about to come out” with a coin through his parody “Patriot Store.” The comment builds on what Politico described as Newsom’s expanding online troll campaign against the President, including Trump-style memes and merchandise.
Newsom’s coin joke came as he recalled a conversation with Trump earlier this summer about deploying the National Guard to Los Angeles. During that exchange, he said, Trump mentioned his cryptocurrency ventures and what Newsom described as a “crypto grift,” reported Fox News.

Trump himself has promoted a memecoin, $TRUMP, and has courted buyers at private dinners. According to Politico, his company, Trump Media and Technology Group, recently disclosed holdings of roughly $2 billion in bitcoin and other digital assets.

Newsom’s online shop, which he promoted on X with the all-caps declaration, “THE PATRIOT SHOP IS NOW OPEN!!!!” features Trump-inspired designs with a tw. Among the items is a red MAGA-style hat that instead reads: “NEWSOM WAS RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING!”
