Former Bigg Boss contestant Armaan Kohli gets bail in illegal liquor possession case

Former Bigg Boss contestant and actor Armaan Kohli who was booked and arrested by Excise department for possessing 41 bottles of scotch whiskey, has been released on bail of Rs 20,000. According to law one cannot keep more than 12 units of alcohol at home but Armaan had more than 41 bottles and most of them were from abroad. The actor’s Juhu residence was raided by Bandra excise department on Thursday night.

An excise department official talked to Bombay Times and said, “We raided Armaan Kohli’s home and seized 41 unopened bottle and 35 empty bottles of Scotch whisky, which is beyond the permissible limit. He was taken for further questioning and appeared before the court yesterday around 11 am.”

Armaan Kohli talked to Bombay Times and said that he had bought all the liquor as he was planning to host a party and also feels someone wants to tarnish his image. I have secured bail for a bond of Rs 20,000. I returned from Dubai on Tuesday and, along with six friends, bought 12 bottles of whisky from duty free, as I was planning to host a party a few days later. I have the required liquor permit and duty-free license. Unlike what has been claimed, I just had around 40 bottles, of which 19 were unopened. I spent the night at the Bandra excise office. I appeared before the court on Friday around 11.30 am and was granted bail on the basis of the proof I produced.” He concluded by saying, “Clearly, someone is after my life and wants to tarnish my image.”

This is not the first time Armaan has been arrested this month. A couple of weeks back, an FIR was filed against Armaan Kohli for allegedly abusing and threatening a woman fashion designer over some monetary issue. Armaan had surrendered himself on December 12 and was later released on bail.

The former Bigg Boss contestant was booked for physically assaulting his girlfriend Neeru Randhawa. The actor went absconding for more than a week and was finally arrested in Lonavla and brought to Bandra court. But, later Neeru withdrew her case.
