Team Wise Probability to Reach Asia Cup Final after Pakan vs Sri Lanka Super 4 Match

Asia Cup 2025 Final Qualification Scenario: The Asia Cup 2025 men’s cricket tournament is moving to its last phase, where the top four teams from the group stage are fighting for the top two places in the finals. India and Bangladesh have won their respective first matches in the Super 4, while Pakan have won one and lost one in the two games they played. Group B topper Sri Lanka are yet to open their account in Super 4.Here are the team-wise Asia Cup 2025 final qualification scenarios for India, Pakan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka ahead of Super 4 Match No. 4:
How can India qualify for the Finals?
India are in the driver’s seat, boasting the best Net Run Rate (NRR) among all four teams in the Super 4 stage. After beating Pakan six wickets with 1.1 overs to spare, India earned two points and now have a positive NRR of +0.689. The Suryakumar Yadav-led side can qualify for the final in three ways:

If India beat both Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in their last two Super 4 matches:This would take them to six points, and an unbeaten India would top the Super 4 table to qualify directly for the final. This is the most realic scenario, as the defending champions have looked like a dangerous unit in this tournament.
If India win one of their last two matches against Bangladesh or Sri Lanka:
In this case, India would finish with four points, which would place them ahead of Sri Lanka. The scenario then branches further:

If India beat Bangladesh but lose to Sri Lanka: The Pakan vs. Bangladesh match becomes crucial. The winner of that clash would also move to four points and reach the final alongside India. The loser would be eliminated with Sri Lanka on two points.
If India lose to Bangladesh but beat Sri Lanka: India would still have to wait for the result of the PAK vs. BAN game. If Bangladesh then beats Pakan, Bangladesh would finish with six points and India with four, sending both teams to the final. If Pakan beats Bangladesh, then India, Pakan, and Bangladesh would all be tied on four points, and the two teams with the better NRR would qualify.

India and Sri Lanka would be tied on two points. For India to have any chance of qualifying in this scenario, they would need Bangladesh to beat Pakan. This would leave India, Sri Lanka, and Pakan all on two points each. The top two teams from this bottom trio, determined the best NRR, would then advance to the final alongside Bangladesh.
How can Sri Lanka qualify for the Finals?
Sri Lanka have made life difficult for themselves after losing back-to-back Super 4 matches to Bangladesh and Pakan, and are all but out of the race for the final. Hanging a thin thread, Sri Lanka need a miracle to qualify.
First, they must beat India a large margin to improve their NRR and secure two points. Second, they need Bangladesh to win all of their remaining Super 4 matches, taking them to six points. This requires Bangladesh to beat both India and Pakan. If this happens, India, Pakan, and Sri Lanka would all be tied on two points. Sri Lanka could then reach the final having the best NRR among these three teams, setting up a clash with Bangladesh.
How can Bangladesh qualify for the Finals?
Bangladesh’s qualification scenario is almost identical to India’s. Sitting on two points, Bangladesh can qualify directly if they win their remaining two matches against India and Pakan. Even if they win only one of these two matches, they would still be in strong contention to reach their maiden Asia Cup final.Story continues below this ad
In all likelihood, India are primed to beat Bangladesh. If that happens, a win for Bangladesh against Pakan would still see them finish on four points. In this case, the winner of the Bangladesh vs. Pakan match would likely play India in the final.
How can Pakan qualify for the Finals?
Pakan can still qualify for the final, and their path is relatively simple and clear. If they beat Bangladesh in their last Super 4 match, they will likely make it to the final, provided India also beats Bangladesh.
The route becomes trickier for Pakan if Bangladesh defeats India. In that case, a win over Bangladesh would bring Pakan to four points, level with Bangladesh. If India then beats Sri Lanka (as expected), India would also be on four points. This would mean India, Bangladesh, and Pakan are all tied on four points, and the top two teams with the better NRR would advance to the final.
