A Pakani teenager has been sentenced to 100 years in prison for killing four members of his family in 2022 after a dispute over playing the online game PUBG.
“Additional Sessions Judge, Lahore, Riaz Ahmed handed down 100-year imprisonment on four counts to Zain Ali, 17, and also imposed a fine of PkR 4 million for his offence,” a court official told PTI. The verdict was based on evidence and witness statements presented the prosecution.
The judge ruled that due to Zain’s age, he would be spared the death penalty and instead receive four life sentences – 25 years for each of the four murders. The sentences will run concurrently.

A resident of Lahore’s densely populated Kahna area, Zain was just 14 when he committed the crime. Known to be a diehard PUBG player, he often spent long hours locked in his room, glued to the screen. His mother, 45-year-old Nahid Mubarak, frequently scolded him for spending long hours playing the game.
Police told the court that the teenager had a hory of turning aggressive whenever he failed to complete game targets. On the day of the killings in 2022, Zain “lost his senses after he missed a target while playing the game for hours and also got a snub from his mother,” they said.
Enraged, he took his mother’s pol while she was asleep and opened fire. In addition to his mother, he killed his elder brother Taimur, 20, and his two sers — Mahnoor, 15, and Jannat, 10.
According to investigators, Zain threw the weapon into a near drain after the attack but later confessed to the crime.
