Madhavan doesn’t need a six-pack, as he gets the women he wants without it: ‘I prefer the family pack’ | Bollywood News

There’s a famously funny bit from Farah Khan’s legendary Om Shanti Om where R Madhavan tells the media how he is often called “the Shah Rukh Khan of the South.” Unfortunately, the scene didn’t make it to the final cut of the film, but it remains as hilarious and authentic as anything Farah has ever crafted. After all, for a long time, Madhavan was widely regarded as the heartthrob who could effortlessly charm audiences with his presence.
Nearly a decade ago, in an interview with Radiant Wellness, Madhavan was asked why he doesn’t sport a six-pack, much like the icon he was often compared to, Shah Rukh Khan, who famously got his own six-pack for Om Shanti Om. Responding with characteric humor, Madhavan said, “I’ve always been a very family man, so I prefer the family pack. Having said that, that’s just a cheeky answer. The truth of the matter is, getting a six-pack is definitely a beautiful thing, but only if you get it the right way.”
He elaborated further: “To get a six-pack, you need to have a body fat percentage between 8 to 9 percent, and that tends to make your face look really old. Even for Irudhi Suttru, when I built up the physique, it took me one and a half years. Most Indian trainers told me I could get it done in three months, and they’re right, you can, if you add your protein shakes and supplements. You can get a physique like that. But to get a proper six-pack is a really tough job, and I have great admiration for actors who manage to achieve it.”Story continues below this ad

He concluded on a light-hearted note: “That said, I still get my women the way I want, so I’m happy with my family pack.”
Madhavan was recently seen in Aap Jaisa Koi. He is now gearing up for two big releases: De De Pyaar De 2, which hits screens tomorrow, and Dhurandhar, slated for next month.
