Collective failure of govt and House caused Gen Z protests: Nepal PM Sushila Karki to SC | World News

In a submission before Nepal’s Supreme Court, Prime Miner Sushila Karki has blamed a collective failure of Parliament and government for the recent GenZ revolt, which led to her appointment as the new head of the government.
Karki’s appointment as PM has been challenged in the Supreme Court on multiple counts, mainly citing Articles that expressly prohibit a non-parliamentarian or a former Chief Justice or a Justice of the Supreme Court from holding any Constitutional position in future.
The failure of Parliament to appoint an accountable government ever since the Constitution was promulgated ten years ago created a situation of “public insecurity”, PM Karki said in her submission.
“’I was appointed Prime Miner the President in exercise of powers vested on him the Constitution to elect a functional parliament within six months, and any obstruction will only create more uncertainties in the country,” she said.
While all the petitions demand that her appointment as PM be annulled, some are also seeking the reinstatement of the House of Representatives, which was dissolved two years before its remaining tenure.
