Maruti Suzuki posts 4.5% sales growth in October

New Delhi: Carmaker Maruti Suzuki has released its sales data for the month of October on Friday. The company has registered a growth of 4.5 per cent in its domestic sales to 144,277 units in October 2019. The company had sold 138,100 units in October 2018. The company sold a total of 153,453 units including 141,550 units in the domestic market, 2,727 units of domestic OEM sales and 9,158 units of exports in October 2019, as against 146,766 units in the corresponding month last year, with a growth of 4.5 per cent.

The domestic passenger vehicle sales registered an uptick of 2.3 per cent to 139,121 units, as compared to 135,948 units in the same month of the last year. The mini segment (Alto, S-Presso, Old WagonR) has posted a decline of 13.1 per cent to 28,537 units, as against 32,835 units in the same month of 2018. It may be noted that S-Presso was launched in September 2019, according to a statement to BSE.

While in the case of the compact segment (New WagonR, Celerio, Ignis, Swift, Baleno, Dzire), it has witnessed a growth of 15.9 per cent to 75,094 units in October 2018 as compared to 64,789 units sold in October 2018.

In passenger car segment, the company has recorded a growth of 4.4 per cent to 106,002 units, as against 101,516 units in the corresponding month last year. In the utility vehicles segment (gypsy, Ertiga, XL6, Vitara Brezza, S-Cross) has reported an increase of 11.3 per cent to 23,108 units as compared to the 20,764 units in October 2018. XL6 was launched in August 2019.

The export sales of the company grew 5.7 per cent with 9,158 units dispatched in the month under review as compared to 8,666 units in October 2018.
