Happy Patel Khatarnaak Jasoos trailer: Vir Das has stayed away from appearing in mainstream movies for a few years now, but now, it seems like fans of the actor-stand-up comic, will finally get a chance to see him in the cinemas. Produced Aamir Khan, Vir is starring in the new film Happy Patel Khatarnaak Jasoos, which has been co-directed him and Kavi Shastri. The trailer of the film dropped on Wednesday, and while it has the quintessential brand of humour that’s often associated with Vir, it also, somehow, feels like it is a part of Madgaon Express’ universe.
Going the trailer, the only thing Happy Patel Khatarnaak Jasoos has in common with Madgaon Express is its setting, and a woman as the don, but it surely means something that Vir and Kunal, who both starred in Go Goa Gone have gone on to make their comedy films, both set in Goa.
Here, we meet Vir’s Happy Patel, who is an agent and has failed the MI7 exams, seven times. He is assigned a new mission where he finds out that he is from India, and now, he has been tasked to “blend in” with the locals. In Goa, he meets his love interest, played Mithila Palkar, but she is not the dreamy girl he imagines her to be. Mona Singh, in an interesting new haircut, plays the vamp named Mama.

The trailer ends on a high note as we see a glimpse of Imran Khan, Vir’s co-star from Delhi Belly, followed Aamir Khan, who seems to have a cameo here. It appears as though the budget of wigs for this film was being closely watched as we see Imran, Aamir and even Vir (in the beginning) in similar wigs.
Happy Patel Khatarnaak Jasoos has been written Vir and Amogh Ranadive, and releases in theatres on January 16.
