WhatsApp Dark Mode for Desktop version spotted in leaked screenshots; signals rollout soon
WhatsApp has already been working on bringing the dark mode on its mobile platforms. The social messaging platform recently released its WhatsApp beta for Android 2.20.13 and WhatsApp Beta for iOS 2.20.30.25. With both Android and iOS dark mode features available on beta versions of the app, now WhatsApp has been spotted working on the next platform – the desktop version and bringing the dark mode to the platform.
In a report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is working to bring the dark theme to the desktop version. According to a report from WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is bringing the official dark mode feature to the desktop versions.
The report states that WhatsApp is currently working to implement the dark theme correctly. The background colour for the emojis are not transparent yet and still has patches of white behind the emojis.
Developers are still working on minor tweaks and improvements. There is no toggle to switch on of switch off the dark theme but if it appears in the future, it will be present in the WhatsApp Navigation Bar or WhatsApp Settings.
The feature is not available yet and will be enabled in the future. However, a release date for the feature is not known. WABetaInfo says, “WhatsApp might decide to enable it very soon, in order to release the dark theme officially in WhatsApp stable releases on the Play Store and App Store, but another plan might be to continue to work on it.
