Maya slams govt over flood relief

Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati said that the lives of lakhs of families had been rendered miserable due to the ravaging floods in eastern Uttar Pradesh. She alleged that help from the Bharatiya Janata Party government in the state so far had been confined to just papers.

In a tweet posted in Hindi on Monday, Mayawati said, “Due to floods in Uttar Pradesh, especially in Purvanchal region, again this year, the lives of lakhs of families have become miserable after widespread devastation and destruction. The expected government help is only on paper. The government should immediately ensure adequate relief to the affected people. I also urge party workers not to leave the flood-affected people behind and help them in whatever way they can.”
