Salaria Gau Sanctuary should be developed as a model for country: CM
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that Salaria Gau Sanctuary of Agar-Malwa district should be developed as a model of the country and made the best national level cow sanctuary. Responsibility should be given to a competent social organization of the state for developing the sanctuary. Chouhan was taking a review meeting of the Madhya Pradesh Gaupalan and Livestock Promotion Board.
Chouhan said that the work of development of Gaushalas in the state should be given to voluntary organizations. The work of Gaushalas is synonymous to service. Voluntary organizations can develop Gaushalas well only through a sense of service. He directed to give grants to Gaushalas run by non-government voluntary organizations. He directed the officers to develop 6 Gaushalas as training centers in the state.
The Chief Minister directed to establish Gauvansh Van Vihar at Gangaivir in Jabalpur district. He said that 530 acres of land of Animal Husbandry Department is available here, in which two thousand cows can be given shelter in a systematic manner.
Chouhan said that special efforts should be made to improve the breed of cows and Nandi in the state. He instructed to conduct research on cows that give more milk. He directed to make special arrangements for the sale of cow products and to engage in maximum publicity. He said cow-phenyl should be used in government offices. A tax plan should be prepared for cow-grass. Also, public participation should be encouraged.
Following the instructions Chouhan, 2200 gaushalas will be built in the state. The work of running Gaushalas will be entrusted to social service organizations. The cow sanctuary will be made the center of cow tourism related to which the Tourism department has started work. Eight Gau Sadans that were shut down will be started again in the state. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan approved the amount received and spent from State Agricultural Marketing Board, Mandi Board etc. According to the 20th animal census, there are 01 crore 87 lakh 50 thousand cows in the state.
