CM pays tribute to Mahatma Phule
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan paid homage to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, the pioneer of social equality, women’s education and founder of Satyashodhak Samaj, on his birth anniversary.
Chouhan paid floral tributes by garlanding his picture in the auditorium at his residence office. Chouhan has said that by following the path shown by the great social worker Mahatma Jyotiba Phule for untouchability, women’s education and farmer’s welfare, we are determined to uplift every needy person.
Mahatma Jyotiba Phule was born on April 11, 1827 in Pune. Jyotiba established the “Satyashodhak Samaj’ in the year 1873 to provide justice to the poor and weaker sections. Due to his social service, he was given the title of ‘Mahatma’ in a huge gathering in Mumbai in the year 1888.
Mahatma Phule did many works for the upliftment of women and downtrodden. He was a strong supporter of providing education to all sections of the society.
He was against caste based division and discrimination prevalent in Indian society. Mahatma Jyotirao Phule was opposed to child marriage. he supported widow marriage. He wanted to free the society from the web of evil practices and superstitions.
