Over 3 crore Income Tax Returns filed so far; July 31 deadline remains unchanged

“More than 3 crore ITRs for AY (Assessment Year) 2022-23 have been filed on the e-filing portal till 25th July 2022. The due date to file ITR for AY 2022-23 is 31st July 2022. We urge you to file your ITR at the earliest, if not filed as yet,” the Income Tax Department tweeted.

With less than a week left for the last day (July 31) to file the Income Tax Return (ITR) for the financial year 2021-22, the Income Tax Department said on Monday that more than three crore returns have been filed through the e-filing portal to date.”More than 3 crore ITRs for AY (Assessment Year) 2022-23 have been filed on the e-filing portal till 25th July 2022. The due date to file ITR for AY 2022-23 is 31st July 2022. Over the last two financial years, the deadline had been extended.The Income Tax Department has established an independent portal for e-filing of income tax returns — incometaxindia.gov.in. There are also private entities, registered by the department that permit taxpayers to e-file through their websites.(With PTI inputs)
