Liger box office collection Day 4: Vijay Deverakonda’s film shows ‘disastrous trends’, here’s how much it has earned
The collections of Vijay Deverakonda’s latest movie Liger have dropped drastically in south Indian states. However, the film seems to be maintaining a steady trend in the Hindi belt. As per estimations provided Ormax Media, a media consultancy firm, the movie’s Hindi version has earned Rs 14 crore so far. The domestic collection of the movie so far from all languages is pegged at Rs 35 crore.
The bad word of mouth and poor reviews have undercut the earning potential of Liger in Telugu states. After a very encouraging opening, the film’s box office performance hit a slump the next day. According to AndhraBoxOffice.com, the movie’s opening day collection was about Rs 15 crore in Telugu states alone. And on the second day, the film added just over Rs 3 crore and it didn’t get better even on Saturday and Sunday.
The Indian Express film critic Shubhra Gupta found Liger to be a “cringe-fest”. In her review, she had written, “There’s nothing new or fresh about the ingredients that go into the making of this Vijay Deverakonda film. The plot is filled with all kinds of outlandish situations, and the treatment is jaded.”

Liger had also fallen victim to Bollywood hate campaigns prior to its release—the new boycott trend that has been plaguing the recent slew of Hindi films in the past year. The movie was expected to bring some hope to Bollywood after Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha and Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan flatlined at the box office, but it seems to have fared even worse than the two films.
Liger revolves around Vijay Deverakonda’s MMA fighter, and Ananya Panday plays his love interest. The film also stars Ramya Krishna and Ronit Roy in pivotal roles. Legendary boxer Mike Tyson has an extended cameo appearance in the movie. The Dharma Productions-Puri Connects production had been in the making for three years and faced many delays due to the pandemic.
