It was a proud moment for veteran actor Tanuja at the recently organised Maharashtra State Film Awards 2025, as her daughter and Bollywood star Kajol was honoured with the prestigious Raj Kapoor Award for her contribution to Indian cinema — the same award that Tanuja had won years ago. Another heartwarming moment from the award night is now going viral, in which Tanuja is seen whling while Kajol cheers for her.
Veteran actor Anupam Kher shared a video from the award ceremony where he is seen sitting beside Kajol and Tanuja. He is speaking to Tanuja, as Kajol asks her mother to whle loudly. Initially looking hesitant, Tanuja finally whles, prompting both Anupam and Kajol to cheer for her.
Anupam shared the video with a heartwarming caption, calling Tanuja a “legend.” He wrote, “That is how sometimes LEGENDS are actually supposed to be! Tanuja ji (Kajol’s Mom) is not only a very fine actress, a great mother and a wonderful human being but also the OG coolest heroine of #IndianCinema! After the award night, Kajol interacted with the media. However, during this interaction, Kajol snapped at a reporter for asking her to repeat her statement in Hindi. Kajol was speaking in fluent Marathi to the reporters. Snapping at the media person, she said, “Abhi main Hindi mein bolu (Now should I speak in Hindi too)?” She added, “Jisko samjhna hai woh samjh lenge (Those who want to understand what I said, will figure it out).”
This sparked outrage on social media, with many fans criticising her. A comment read, “Then why do you make films in Hindi?” Another comment said, “Ask her to stop doing Hindi films. She should only do Marathi films.”
