Adelaide Test: Mitchell Starc – ‘There was a lot of outside noise after the first match but we left Perth in Perth’ | Cricket News

Mitchell Starc, one of the architects of Australia’s comeback win in Adelaide, said the hosts had left the Perth debacle behind shutting the “outside noise” following their heavy defeat in the series-opener.
“There was a lot of outside noise after the game but we left Perth in Perth,” Starc told Star Sports after Australia’s 10-wicket win at Adelaide Oval. A 295-run defeat despite bowling India out for just 150 in the first innings invited criticism for the hosts. But the Aussies bounced back in some style.
Setting the tone for their big win was Starc, who picked up a big wicket with the first delivery of the match. Living up to his reputation with the pink ball, left-arm quick Starc handed Australia a dream start dismissing Perth centurion Yashasvi Jaiswal in the very first ball of the second Test en route to finishing with an impressive match haul of 8/108.
Starc extended his stellar form with the pink ball in day-night Tests, some dance the most successful bowler in this sub category of cricket. But he didn’t think he does anything different with pink ball to be successful. “Nothing changes in my approach. Probably slightly fuller lengths. It (pink ball) is more like the white ball than the red ball,” he said. “We were really positive with bat and ball and got the rewards. It’s nice when the ball hits the stumps.”

Starc also spoke highly of captain Pat Cummins, as well as pace spearhead Josh Hazlewood, for helping in his growth and highlighted improvements in his bowling, including mastering deliveries that move away and those that swing back. In response to a question from Cheteshwar Pujara in the Mumbai studio, Starc also said there has been an enhancement in his accuracy and consency as he has been trying out the wobble seam technique in recent years.
“I have been learning a lot from Pat Cummins over the last seven years or so. So I have added to my bow the one that goes away and still able to bring one back,” he said. “I always had that air speed and swing but I have also been someone who leaked a bit. Developing the wobble seam helped me improve my accuracy over the years.”
