After calling premature balding devastating, Akshaye Khanna compares Dhurandhar look to dad Vinod Khanna | Bollywood News

Akshaye Khanna is currently dominating the internet with his portrayal of Pakani gangster Rehman Dakait. Fans are praising his look and dance in Dhurandhar’s viral song “FA9LA“. While they can’t get over the Hungama actor’s charming appearance in a black suit, Akshaye has been open about struggling with premature balding since the age of 19. In a recent interaction, makeup, hair and prosthetic art Preetisheel Singh spoke about how he created Akshaye’s look for the film.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Singh shared that he also worked on Akshaye’s prosthetics in Chhaava, where the actor played Aurangzeb. He said, “Of course, he has a lot of experience working with wigs. I wanted to refrain from how he has already been shown and wanted his charisma to come across.”
Preetisheel recalled that Akshaye liked his look in Dhurandhar and said it reminded him of his father, the late veteran star Vinod Khanna. “There is a suaveness in his character, where his mere presence commands attention. He doesn’t need to say much. I gave him soft waves, and we showed the receding hairline. It is not a full head of hair. I remember doing the trial, he was looking at himself in the mirror, telling me he was reminded of his late father, Vinod Khanna,” he shared.

In an old interaction with Mid Day, Akshaye had spoken about facing balding at the age of 19 and how it took 2-3 years of his career. He also admitted that he felt helpless. “It started happening at such a young age, and it was like a pian losing his fingers. It almost felt like that in those days. I mean, until you truly come to terms with it, it keeps bothering you. When you wake up in the morning, looking at the papers, and you realise, ‘I can’t read that. What’s written? I need glasses.’ It would affect you, right?” he shared.
He added, “You might be a sportsman, a cricketer or a footballer, and realise that you might need knee surgery. So it’s heartbreaking, you might lose a year or two years of your career. So, as I said, it’s like a pian losing his fingers, because the way you look, as an actor, is very important. At 19-20 it is devastating, heartbreaking. It can mentally kill you,” the actor said. He added, “It did affect my self confidence a lot as a young actor.”
