After Harmanpreet slams ‘pathetic’ umpiring, Bangladesh media criticise India captain’s behaviour

India women’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur reacted sharply and did not mince words in criticising the umpiring during the tied third ODI against Bangladesh on Saturday, terming it “pathetic”.
This was after she was adjudged leg-before off a Nahida Akter delivery while trying to sweep. She claimed that the ball hit the bat before hitting the pads. She broke the stumps in disgust and termed the umpiring “pathetic” at the post-match presentation.
India was bowled out for 225 in 49.3 overs in response to Bangladesh’s 225/4, and the match ended in a tie.
After the match, the India captain expressed unhappiness and lashed out at the local on-field umpires, Muhammad Kamruzzaman and Tanvir Ahmed.
The Bangladesh media charged Kaur and spoke about disrespecting the game and Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana Joty before posing for the group photographs.
Reports circulated in the Bangladesh media also pointed out that before posing for the team photo after the post-match presentation, Harmanpreet allegedly called for the umpires to join as they were the reasons for the shared trophy.
Dainik Ittefaq, in its report, quoted Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel, BCB director, who said: “The way Harmanpreet spoke was uncalled for and it will be taken up between the two boards. We will give a report and talk to BCCI and ICC.”
“Cricket is a gentleman’s game. Before becoming a good player, you must be a decent human being and a good sportsperson. Then we will talk… ”
Another news outlet, Bangladesh Protidin questioned, what could be the punishment for Kaur’s behaviour.

“Bring the umpires too.”
“Why you are only here? You haven’t tied the match. The umpires did it for you. Call them up! We better have photo with them as well.”

Prothom Alo newspaper also took a look at the incident and questioned the Indian skipper’s behaviour.
Meanwhile, Mandhana defended Kaur and said, “I don’t think (she said this). You have stated it. I don’t think she said anything towards the Bangladesh captain. From whatever I heard, think talked a bit about umpiring. I don’t think she said anything about them (the Bangladesh players).”
