Ahmad Shehzad says Pakan cricket team is not ‘capable enough to play’ | Cricket News
Bangladesh whitewashed Pakan in the recently concluded two-match Test series. Despite getting into good positions in games Pakan lost the advantage and both the games eventually. The white-wash has opened the team for sharp criticism and former player Ahmad Shehzad made scathing remarks to the side as well going as to say that the team is “not capable enough.”
“Bangladesh has whitewashed Pakan in their home conditions. You don’t know how to play, you’re not capable enough to play [directed towards the Pakani team]. All their practice sessions have also been conducted after they arrived in Pakan. The condition their country was in at that moment was also not that good. They have come to Pakan and have outplayed you without breaking a sweat,” Shehzad said on his X account.
Amid the political tensions and floods in the country, Bangladesh players have punched above their weight throughout the series. They were reduced to 26/6 in the first innings of the second Test however, Liton Das and Mehidy Hassan stitched a clinical partnership not only to pull Bangladesh back into the game but take them to a victory in the end.
In the first Test too when the team was in a tricky situation veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim would pull them out of trouble with a sublime double hundred. “However, the Bangladeshi batters made the track look like a road whenever they got the opportunity to bat,” Shehzad said.
Not only did their batters outskill the Pakani batters Bangladesh’s bowlers could extract more out of the palcid Rawalpindi surfaces in both games. “How they played their cricket, the way they dominated, the approach with which they batted, the style in which they bowled, Nahid Rana bowled well. Their batters have displayed the unwavering spirit one requires to succeed in Test cricket. Their bowlers have demonstrated the channels in which one should bowl, and all you were left is blaming the pitch,” he said.
